28 June - 3 July 1998 Geneva, Switzerland

WHY TWO SITES?
On 18 June, this site was replaced by aids98.ch, the
Online News Service of the 12th World AIDS Conference. In addition to providing
breaking stories as they happen, aids98.ch provides Delegates and
Visitors with easy access to services specifically designed for the needs of persons
attending the Conference.
For convenience, the current
pages seen here--which provide in-depth information about programmes, staff, committees
and other details more related to the building of the Conference Secretariat--remain
available at all times, as the Pre- Conference Site.

Days to Go!
The Geneva 98 Conference
is the world's leading forum for information on HIV/AIDS basic and clinical science,
treatment and prevention, care-giving and education.
Presentations and discussions are organised
into four tracks:
Track A - Basic Science
Track B - Clinical Science and Care
Track C - Epidemiology, Prevention and Public
Health
Track D - Social and Behavioural Science
At world conferences such as
Geneva 98, many sessions take place simultaneously. To help participants plan their daily
programme more easily, a number of pathways are being designed which indicate issues that
cut across the different tracks. These pathways will be created from the important issues
emerging in the course of 1997-98.
The world AIDS conferences are more than
important scientific gatherings - they provide meaningful opportunities for all affected
by the epidemic to share information, learn, and contribute knowledge.
To reflect our commitment to providing a forum
for everyone fighting HIV/AIDS, the 12th World AIDS Conference has adopted the "Geneva Principle". The Geneva Principle ensures, for the
first time in the history of world AIDS conferences, that both scientific and HIV
community representatives have equal say in the format and content of the Conference
programme.
We hope that the 12th World AIDS Conference will help
strengthen the linkages formed between and amongst science, the
community, industry and government, and ensure a wide choice
of sessions that appeal to all. |
